Simple question folks, but can you explain how please, if its true that an excess of carbs do indeed turn into fat and then stored around my waist. Thanks in advance. g.
It's thanks to evolution - a long time ago humans didn't always have a steady supply of food year-round, so when your body consumed an excess of energy (when food was plentiful) it would store the excess as body fat for later use (when food was thin on the ground, eg during a harsh winter). The body hasn't quite got used to the fact that food is available constantly and people sit at desks all day instead of going out hunting.
