| Super Moderator | It's difficult to advise on a diet when we don't know what she likes and doesn't like. What is a typical days diet currently?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ok, have your Mother eat within 30 minutes apon awakening. Have her eat 6 meals a day and drink at least a half a gallon of water or more. The first week or even 2 have her eat very little carbs and have here eat protein and fats. Thats right fat and protein for the first two weeks. This will help her to burn fat instead of carbs for fuel. Once this is done she will start to lose bodyfat. The biggest problem with dieting is controlling insulin. This is the single biggest problem for people trying to lose bodyfat. After the two weeks she can add a little bit of carbs but very little and has to be low in the Glycemic Index. Have her add vegetables to her diet after the two weeks for about a week. After the week she can add a fruit like berries (only) and only in the morning. Also have here take some fish oils and apple pectin with those first two weeks with each meal. This will help upregulate the insulin receptors and allow here to get away from being insulin resistant or hyperinsulinemia. This is one of the only ways she will be able to turn off the fat storing hormone insulin and have her burn her own fat stores. The problems with calorie restricted diets is this: The body slows down its metabolism due to starvation mode. At this point she will burn muscle. This is not good because you can burn muscle much faster than you can make it. Plus all muscle burned will make fat burning even harder due to loss of lean muscle mass which uses fuel to burn energy. She will spare more lean muscle mass doing this approach as it is a type of ketogenic diet. She can eat eggs, meat, some cheese, chicken, fish, bacon, thats right bacon. She will lose alot of water at first but this is ok but not an indication of fat loss just body weight loss due to water. But you can lose anywhere from 1-8 lbs a week on a keto type diet. If she looses nicely then this is an indication that she has a problem with blood sugar and its responce to insulin. Now there can be another underlying problem here and it can be due to excessive estrogen. If she is estrogen domminant then she will gain the fat in the middle area of waist, butt and legs. All the training in the world wont help if she has an excess of estrogen. Some books I have been reading tend to lean twards progesterone and its insulin lowering effects and also keeping estrogen in check. She could even be low thyroid or hypothyroid. Progesterone kindof fires up the thyroid too and has a thermogenic effect on the body too. First thing first. Have your mother check her hormone levels. It might be kindof hard for you to find a proper Dr, but if you do and she is estrogen domminant and has a hypothyroid she will love you to death as this is the underlying problem. And is easily fixable. Estrogen domminent females can have migrane headaches, fibric breasts, pear shaped bodies, hard to lose bodyweight, emotional, etc. So, get her on a keto type diet and have her monitor her weight/fat loss. If she looses alot of fat then she has a problem with insulin. Also dont forget to add the apple pectin and fish oils to here meals. Take 12 fish oils a day and 6 apple pectins a day with meals too. Her cholesterol should drop too and her triglicerides will be very low not taking in any sugar. No sugar, flower, bread, pasta, rice, none of that, for two weeks. If you have any questions regarding this post either PM me or ask away in this thread, I should get it in e-mail notification.
