![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello I know people that have lost fat and kept it off with Atkins but i would find it too resrtictive to be honest. I prefer the RegX diet where you get all you need, carbs/pro/fat plenty of Fibre etc. Its pretty strict but you can tweak it and still get real good results, i got into best shape in my life earlier this year using it! most diests restrict too much. Post up what your diets like now |

Atkins does work well and I was on it for about 5-6 weeks and lost 3 pounds a week consistant. so you can eat anything that swins, flys, runs, crawls, walks, any of those foods, you can eat stuff like cheese, heavy cream, all that. Bacon and eggs is ok but there are better stuff like even steaks, when ever you are hungry eat that. If you want nuts then eat macadamia nuts as they are the highest in fat and lowest in carbs of any nuts. But if you are dieting then I for sure would stay away from any bread, potato, rice, pasta, flour, sugar and stuff like that. Anything that says fat free is usually loaded with a carbohydrate for instance sugar for taste. I use heavy cream and sugar substatute for my coffee in the morning and you can add some protein powder if you like to your coffee. If you dont go to the gym then Atkins works very well. It takes about 3 days to slip into ketosis, If you are going to give Atkins a try then at least give it 3-4 days after that you feel very good. I have high energy on Atkins/ketogenic diets. After the month is up you can slowly add some carbs and I can help you with that if you want. If you have any questions on this I can help you.

![]() | Hi Emma, Any diet that restricts a food group is not good for you. The atkins diet although is successful to begin with but once you get back to the carbs the weight will pile back on. Its very high in fat so can cause helth problems in the long run. You do not necessarily need to cut out food such as bread, potatoes and pasta. You could chose the wholemeal option which is much better for you. Also have u tried foods such as sweet potatoes, cous cous or lentils? Okay i know the last one dont sound nice and i had not bothered with them until recently myself and if you get a good recipie they are actually quite nice. Its good to introduce different foods to your diet. Have you tried wild rice? I've yet to try that one as it looks a bit nasty, but when i find a good recipie i will put that one to the test!! I would agree with Stu if the food is processed its likely not to be very good for you as it can be high in salt or sugar. Fresh fruit and vegtables every day will help. Are you exercising as well? Atkins diet is not going to kill you, fats wont hurt you and after you go off the atkens diet if you slowly intorduce lower GI foods (carbs) you will not gain the weight back. Atkins is sound for fat loss, bread, potato, rice should be avoided and replaced with fruits and vegetables. Potato for example is toxic raw and actually inhibits protein metabolism in the stomach. Avoid starchy stuff when dieting and you can add them back later in SMALL portions. Eat a protein and fat with every meal. If you want to eat carbs go ahead but eat them with a protein and a vegetable or fruit when dieting and keep the portions of carbs smaller or equal to the fats and proteins. I have mounds of evidence to support that diets higher in fat are just fine. Low fat diets are not healthy. If you are worried about the fats you eat then use extra virgin Olive oil and fish oils. Both these are awesome or you can use avacado, olives, nuts in place but you have to have fat in the diet. Drop all the processed carbs, sugars, bread, pasta, rice everything while dieting and stick to fruits and vegetables. If you eat any of the stuff I said to avoid then you will have to eat a protein and a fat with it to slow digestion so you dont spike blood sugars which in turn spike insulin and you will store some of that meal as fat. Never eat carbs by itself.
