Best intensity for cardio?

first off I'm new to the board so Hello!

Was just wondering about the best intensity for cardio that would benefit me to loose some bodyfat - I'm not fat, but could do with loosing a few pounds to reach my ideal weight. Someone said to me that a light jog is all that is needed, but I always feel that I could easily up the intensity - would this benefit?

Sarah.

Welcome to the board.

Yes, lower intensity cardio is good for fat burning, especially first thing in the morning.

However, fat loss is primarily about diet. Get your diet sorted and you'll get to where you want to be.

For cardio I tend to prefer less impact work than jogging - such as cycling or using the cross-trainer (i.e. things that are less harsh on your joints). Even brisk walking is good and less harsh on your joints than running. If you must run though, make sure it's on a softer surface.

Thanks for your reply - my diet is ok ish, I have looked on here and other places and really cleaned it up, cut out all the junk and am eating smaller and more often......I use all the cardio machines for variety, the treadmill is quite sprung.
