Re: 2 rod carp set up wanted

You can get a good shakespeare pair of rods and baitrunners for £200 odd pound brand new, then a rod pod for £50 odd pound.
But in all honesty, fishing is a bloody expensive hobby mate, especially of you're like me and buy all the sh1te they sell in the mags.
But I'd try exchange and mart and you'll find a good second hand complete set up for something around that price. Might be a little more but you'll get chairs and everything.
When I started up again after a forced absence, I bought a complete second hand kit for £500 and added to it as I went along. My kit's got to be worth 3k now and that's a second hand price, although I'd never get that if I went to sell it....

Re: 2 rod carp set up wanted

Thanks for all the replies and help gents

I've been doing a google search and checked virtually every classified ad out there. One lot of kit was advertised on sunday and had gone by monday morning. Doh!

I've seen the kits on ebay and also been checking out some online stores. The online stores seem to be what i might have to go for if i can't find anything thats 2nd hand soon. I'd prefer 2nd hand tho so i get better quality and probably quantity, for my cash.

I'm waiting for an email from england angling to see what they can offer me for my budget as they keep being recommended.
They also sell a shimano rod and reel combo for £10 cheaper then everybody else at £89.
I've also seen a very good wychwood set at crazycarp which is on limited offer. 2 rods, reels, alarms and rodpod for £199.

Or i could play the ace card of the credit crunch hiting people hard and go to a local shop. Take away the skills i got from watching "Don't get done, get Dom" and haggle my way to a bargain by saying money is tight for them, me and everybody else out there

Re: 2 rod carp set up wanted

Just been checking ebay and looks like there seems to be a few newer set ups being advertised each day on average. But most seem to be in the south east so i might have to do some cross country trekking sometime soon

Re: 2 rod carp set up wanted

funny robsta.. never thought of you as a fishing chap...

been too many years since i fished... still have a lot of kit either in the loft or the cellar...

including a 13 metre glass fibre roach pole... none of that fancy lightweight carbon stuff... a real man's pole... the bugger was just too unwieldy really... prefered using my 15' match rod instead...

Re: 2 rod carp set up wanted

Got it all sorted now gents. Saw a new ad on ebay this morning and sent a cheeky message asking for a "buy it now" price to try and beat somebody else to it

Got pretty much what i wanted and need, for a lot less than expected. I need to travel from Tewkesbury to Redhill now when they send me the address

Just over 2 hours there and about same back as took it quite steady. Fingers crossed i didn't pick up any certificates for my driving when going along the M25 through its speed restriction due to traffic shizzle areas
