Sorry who in their right mind would pay WAY over the odds for a errrr clio ? maybe it was that price 5 years ago, but in places such as auto-trader etc your looking at 3 or 4K tops for a mint Renault clio even if it is a 2.0 Cylinder ! Sell at a car auction and wont come close to 6K !

For that price it should have N.O in the boot along with a very good ICE system !

Well if it's on a 53 plate as stated, then it's only just about to turn 4 years old. 172 Cups on that reg with that mileage go from anywhere between £5k and £6.5k privately, depending on condition. £3- £4k is more like what you'd be offered part-ex. £6,250 sounds a fair opening price, considering it's got FSH, and taking into account final bargaining down to say £5.5+

I think the 172 cup is the most desirable Clio Sport after the 182 Trophy.

Did you actually look in places like auto-trader before making those comments?

Because I'm looking at the auto trader website right now, and to be honest his price looks fair.

There is a 2003/03 plate with 70,000 miles for £6200.

Another 03 with 38,000 miles for £6500.

A 2003/53 plate with 58,000 miles for £6750.

etc etc etc.

If you are finding sport 172 clios of this age and for this mileage for £3-4k, you should snap them up and make 3k profit selling them on auto-trader

At the end of the day, a car (or anything being sold for that matter) is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Personally I don't think anyone should be jumping on someone's thread to tell them their goods are over-priced - particularly when some research shows that the price is actually reasonably fair in comparison to similar goods. If you don't think it's worth the price - simply don't buy it - don't instead pull a classified ad thread off-topic by berating the original poster about his price choice

Are you sure these quotes above were not from a private " Dealer " on auto trader hence why the price is again way overpriced for such an over-rated car !

OH and I have stated in a previous post that due to this site being a FORUM it means I can have my opinion, that being neg or pos comments !
I Believe this car to be over-priced ... Time will tell if he gets it at his asking price

Within the rules of the board that is fine but I agree with Big. There is no need to hijack the thread. If you think its over priced then don't buy it. Leave it at that. I am sure everyone else is capable of deciding if the price is fair themselves.

All of the prices are about the same. There are no 172's for 3-4k of that age and that mileage. They are all in the ballpark of his price. So unless every private buyer is really a trader masquerading, then the price is fair.

If you believe the car to be overpriced, why not be helpful and post links to similar spec/age/condition cars that are £3-4k?
