WMS = Cornflour = Cornmeal?

Hiya

Been reading alot of the Waxy Maize Starch threads, and most say its the same as Cornflour, so I thought I whould get some as dextrose is giving me headaches and gut problems, well I live in a very Indian/Asian community and they have Cornmeal is HUGE sacks 5kg for around £4, i got a smaller packet to try, and its 79g carbs per 100g 0.7g sugar. is this the same stuff as what is usually called Cornflour?

Sorry for my confusion

Re: WMS = Cornflour = Cornmeal?

I'm not sure myself, i've never seen waxy maize starch for sale anywhere. But i'll tell you this, Maize is from the Americas not Asia - so I guess traditional Indian cornflour is something different.
Nutritionally they may be exactly the same mind you, so I have no idea why WMS is identified as useful in a BBers diet...??

Re: WMS = Cornflour = Cornmeal?

WMS is usually used to replace glucose in PWO shakes, on further examination of the packet, it says 100% Maize Flour. pretty cheep, its yellow, very fine and a little gritty in the shake, Dint cause the epic head rush i get from dextrose

Re: WMS = Cornflour = Cornmeal?

WMS is 99-100% amylopectin, cornflour is 75% amylopectin

There is zero reference figures for Dextrose vs WMS. 50% faster may mean 2 seconds.
