If a 9stone guy ate that much he would not be well. If you ate 40 eggs a day you would not be well, likewise if that was the only thing you ate. I'm sure you could kill yourself with eating too much of almost anything. I was really just picking up on the "cholesterol in eggs isnt bad post" - well yeah, cholesterol in ANYTHING isnt "bad", it's eating TOO MUCH cholesterol for your body which is bad. As for yolks, well that is the part which contains fat & cholesterol.

![]() I think you should strive for a balanced diet, not a balanced meal, I often eat a mostly protein meal, but get carbs, vegatables at other times in the day.

I was comparing K and Cholesterol... which, in the frame of reference was justified. I was trying to expand on your very sweeping (and actually just wrong) comment: "Cholesterol in eggs is not bad for you, that is proven." If you like I will further analagise the statement: it's like someone saying "falling has been proven not to kill you" which, in a test of a hieght of 3 feet is completely correct... However when you fall from a height of 300 feet that statement no longer holds true. :jerk:

Can you show me a study where cholesterol from eggs has been proven to be bad for you? As I have read more than one that shows it is not. And yes; you are just a barrel of laughs, :jerk:

My point wasn't really that cholesterol in eggs is bad for you, my comment was that the meal suggested was not balanced (which is ok occasionally) was fried (which is ok never) and lacked imagination. Its like putting a post up saying I have a new meal 'Beans on Toast'. I have eaten some odd and unnatural things in the past, but it was always short term and put down to experience. Too much of anything CAN be a bad thing which is what Mega was driving at and I agree totally as too much of one thing means you will exclude others and lose balance. Basically you can live on eggs if you want, but a lack of fibre, vitamins, minerals, efa's balance will deteriorate your health. BUT eat those eggs with a balanced diet and they are fine if you dont have hereditary hypercholestremia. Food intolerance is also generated by too exclusive a diet. Frying oil turns it from a poly fat into a bad fat. Olive oil is mainly Mono so is better for stir frying, this should be short duration though or at a medium heat. Coconut oil is short chain saturated so is actually good for you and fryable as saturates are more stable in heat. It is long chain saturates from animal fats (including eggs) which are also cholesterol rich, which are bad for you. SD

Actually, tuna and egg combined will give you a good balance of protein to get more protein cheaply both calorie and $$$ wise without resorting to protein powder. Thanks for the post, Ethos. I would not fry the egg; however, I would boil it. I would also mix in some chopped celery and even a handful of nuts. I love fried eggs. But I do not fry them at all with any oil. I spray the pan with PAM and then cook the egg until the white is cooked. The yolk is thickened but not runny. Pan clean up is super and there is no added fat to the meal. You can use vitamin E on your pan to get that non stick quality as well. View the sticky on eggs in the nutrition section to learn more about the cholesterol in eggs.

![]() | Re: Quick easy, tuna + eggs. I also have this dish pre-workout sometimes, but instead of nuts/fish oil I add 50g of brown rice and mix it all in. Tastes sooo good! SportDr, would you recommend Coconut oil then as a healthier option to frying with olive oil? I have also been cooking A LOT of chicken with olive oil lately (been off work for a week)... but I normally george foreman it. We have a kitchen at work and my boss is happy with me grilling up some chicken throughout the day. I prepare my rice/potato/veggies or whatever in the morning before work!! |

The veg you eat are great, just try to rotate the colours a bit, so occasionally have peppers, tomatoes etc SD
