whey in with the porridge

hey guys ive googled around abit and done a search but its useless

ive decided that tomorrow im going to have porridge...something i dont normally do

now i have chocolate whey, is it ok to sprinkle and mix into the porridge after its cooked? will it taste like crap?:( will it denature adding it after cooking?

what could i add to the porridge to make it abit more sweeter or generally more interesting

im thinking maybe adding jam and then drinking the whey separate, but if you guys have any superbly amazing mixtures that'd be great!

Re: whey in with the porridge

I just add the raw (uncooked) fine oats to my shake and neck it. Is that okay or should I cook it first?

Absolutely fine, mix away.

That's what happens in your stomach anyway! The heat won't make the protein any less bioavailable.

To sweeten it, try adding:

Honey, dried fruits (raisins, sultanas, cranberries, cherries, prunes etc.), splenda or any other sweetner, brown sugar, molasses, golden syrup, cinnamon, vanilla extract, fresh fruit, fruit juice, milkshake powder (nesquik)

Here's my favourite recipe (requires soaking overnight):

1 cup (dry) porridge oats
50g raisins (or dried cherries if I'm feeling flush!)
2.5 cups cold water
2 teaspoons honey
25g almonds or walnuts
4 teaspoons of cinnamon

Mix the dry porridge oats and raisins together with the cold water and leave overnight to soak (I do this before bed).

In the morning, cook the porridge on full blast for 4 minutes (mix at half way).

When cooked, dump the 2 teaspoons of honey, nuts and cinnamon on top and mix in thoroughly.

Eat with your side of eggs or protein shake

Fine mate, they add raw oats to muesli anyway (you eat that raw usually), I like raw oats but I find I eat too many if they're uncooked!
