Re: Turkey Bacon?

Haha! Yeah good idea, but I was wondering whether its possible to buy in shops. Ive been to Tesco's etc but they all look at me funny lol!

Many pro-bodybuilders use it in their diets as far as ive read in 'Flex'.

Re: Turkey Bacon?

Hmmmmm...
I'd be wary of turkey bacon as it is usually processed and full of water and salt and other chemicals.

I find it odd that Flex would promote it.

Best to just buy yourself a turkey, bake it and cut it up for breakfast.
Better value for the dollar as well.

Most bacons will have a high salt and fat content even your lean ones.

turkey bacon

In comparison to pork bacon it is less saturated fat... nevertheless there is saturated fat in it.

Re: Turkey Bacon?

Thanks Peg,

I was just looking for an alternative protein breakfast, there's only so much you can do with Egg or Porridge, whether its adding sultanas to the porridge or cooking the egg differently etc.

Re: Turkey Bacon?

I'd get Canadian bacon or purchase a lean pork steak if I wanted the taste of bacon.

Canadian bacon in US is very lean pork cut in circles.. If you have Egg McMuffins from McDonalds that "ham" is similar to the type of lean pork the US refers to as Canadian bacon.
It is a center cut of pork.. the leanest cut there is.

A rasher of UK bacon is thicker and less streaky than a slice of US bacon.
Normally when US says bacon we mean the thin slices that have lots of fat content.

Re: Turkey Bacon?

Bernard Mathews do a turkey bacon (only variety I have found) but its a bit over smoked and can become dry if cooked too long. Perhaps the local friendly butcher can help slicing a canadian pork steak?
