day 20

Posted 14-10-2008 at 12:37 PM by Slamdog
cardio day and weigh in again...

I've put on weight again...

I'm now heavier than when I started going back to the gym and it is seriously pi$$ing me off now..

God, I read all the threads here about gaining weight, eating more eating this that and the other and it gets to me. Why cant a simple case of cutting calories down to 1800 per day of clean food not work on me? Losing weight is one of those things that has bugged me for years. I've tried this and that, them and those.. not tried any of the silly fad diets its true but even I can see that they are not good.

So I weigh 2lbs more than last week and according to the tape measure.. my tits have grown... not my belly, that has stayed the same well .2 of an inch difference but hey.. its as near as makes no odds. Not my hips either. Arms are a bit bigger, thighs too.. even my sodding neck has grown.. but can I lose weight? Bugger...

Makes me feel like going round and kicking all the skinny bastards who complain about not putting on weight in the nuts...

So where does this leave me? Looking at what has worked in the past...

Ketogenic Diet (atkins or similar)
Velocity Diet (drink biotest shakes for a month)
Splitting up with the fiancée and starving (but boy does it feel crap)

Now maybe if I hadn't left it so long... scrub that.. I have been trying on and of for 20 years to lose weight.. Blood tests show my thyroid was fine earlier this year.. no diabetes yet either, cholesterol is fine (better than most according to my doc) so I dunno... genetics? Am I programmed to always be fat and die early?

Now, over the last 20 days, I have done more cardio than I ever have in my life.. and put on weight... Is it too much? Is walking to the gym, doing weights, then cardio then walking home killing me? Is it bad food choices? There has to be something in there that I am failing miserably at. I think I'm going to look at a combination of solid food and liquid diet and see how that pans out because at the moment, keeping macros to 33/33/33 just isn't working... so much for balance diet bolloks

I'm off to asda now to get some stuff for the rest of the family.. I might have calmed down by the time I get back...

Hmm dunno, but then no matter what I do I seem to just get fatter....

1800kcal seems awfully low - that's what I eat every day, roughly, and I'm much smaller, generally than you.

I would hope you are becks...

See if I eat 2500 then i do add weight.. I can maintain on 2000 cals...

My trouble I think is carbs... eat carbs and bulk...

I did really well on the v-diet but it was banging the carbs back in on solid food that gave it all back... I'm leaning towards going zero carbs for a while, I'll see what the doc thinks tonight when I go to see him about my back....

The other option I have though of is a vlcd along the lines of lighter life but with a better protein ratio. whilst i'm not working it may be survivable

I did quite well losing weight on a keto diet, especially as I;m a cheese loving carnivore

Problem was I lost strength and had trouble working out so you might want to look at some of the carb cycling threads

Slam sounds like your metabolism is out of sync. Leptin is the usual suspect, along with Insulin Resistance.

I'm woefull at checking blogs - but start a thread and we'll all pitch in and help mate.
