i get that.
My chiropractor had a name for it but basicly it is a cold in your muscles.
Well, that is how he explained it to me.
He said leaving a window open at night or the air-conditioner on can do this.
He adjusts me and in about 4 days its gone.

I dont think it is an injury, just a cold muscle that was moved when it wasnt warmed up.
You will be fine.
Maybe just an adjustment will sort this out.

Might be out of adjustment and in that case a chirpractor would be the best thing.

Re: screwed upper back - wtf...

Evening gents- interesting post this on cold muscles!!

Crazy Mick, think about this- the body, along with all the muscles, tendons, bones, ligaments, nerves, blood vessels etc etc are all very tightly put together and when you see them during an autopsy ( saw one on my rehab course; it was great for really looking at the muscles and how they move and more importantly, that how hard it is to differentiate what is what in terms of injury due to the close proximity), you will realise that it is very easy to pull or trap muscle tissue, or even pinch a nerve causing unremitting pain that will last for a while, depending on severity.

How cold can a muscle actually get when lying in bed to make it seize up- air con or not? I would honestly say that you may have either pulled or trapped a muscle, or your spine column/rib could have moved slightly and caused everything else to tighten up to avoid any injury to the spinal cord. The body would have a normal survival reaction to tighten the shoulders, neck etc to avoid any further damage.

As hacksii said, see either a chiropractor to check that everything is aligned and get it sorted, or take the medication, full dose, as it takes a while for anti-inflammatories to get into your system (up to 5 days, initially painkillers take pain away). Start doing very gentle mobility exercises and move your shoulders, arms and neck in all ranges. This will send the right signals to the brain that it's okay to move and gradually you will get full working range.

Hope this helps:-)
