Biceps wont untense

this may sound abit weird, i worked on my biceps and back today, hard very hard! but not painful

anyway i was in work when i noticed something odd

if i bent my arm, forearm facing away from my bicep, and i tensed, my arm would lock

i would have to push my arm apart using my other hand

im finding it hard to explain,

just imagen how you hold a pint, you bend your arm as you put it to your mouth

just like that, i cant tell though if its just my bicep, seem to be the muscles on the elbow joint, either way, its eased off now, just wondering if it was common

quite painful to be fair

Re: Biceps wont untense

If it seems to be stiff around the elbow joint - could be a tendon problem.

Best to get it looked at mate before risking making it worse

Re: Biceps wont untense

I get it mate, only when I tense my bicep, so I don't tense it. And I only get it normally after a good bicep workout

Re: Biceps wont untense

It is like Cramp. It's where the muscle locks involuntarily. Hurts like fcuk sometimes.
Also on the EZ bar doing curls I get a stabbing pain halfway between my elbow and wrist. Just on the bone

Re: Biceps wont untense

i was doing inclined dumbbell crusl so i mean its got the same turning motion as hammer curls, kinda

its ok now though, must just be post workout

definitely wasn't cramp though, i mean i could bend my arm and only when i tensed did it lock

i work in a pub on friday nights so i would be pretty screwed if it had kicked off running around with my arm cocked back

X Adam X will become famous soon enough
Re: Biceps wont untense

I used to have this happen to me too after a good bicep workout.. especially if i had been out of training for a bit and hit my arms really hard. It should go away by the next day. It's just your brain somehow sending signals to your arms muscles to tense up even thought you don't want em too.

ghostdog is on a distinguished road
Re: Biceps wont untense

i get that a lot, especially the 1st workout ever I did stupid big weights for my strength limit and ended up with chicken wings!
I've since learned that after a heavy Bicep session before you leave the gym, hold onto a pullup bar and let yourself hang from it so you feel the stretch / pull in your arms, feels soothing on your Bis. Alternate the grip and even have a little wiggle round and you should find it doesn't lock up the next day.
