Reoccuring Elbow Pain

Hi everyone, I'm relatively inexperienced at working out, and seem to have picked up an elbow injury of some sort.

I get escalating pain just above the back of the elbow joint, feels like a muscle pull/tear. I can only feel discomfort when excerting pressure on the tricep, and once I feel it I can't continue the exercise.

I've rested a week and tried again, but seem to aggrivate it easily. I was thinking of getting an elbow support to help out and lay off the tricep exercises for a while.

Does anyone have any suggestions and can I train with the support on, or will that cause problems? Any preference for support type?

Thanks for your help. River.

Do a search for this mate, we covered someone with the same injury not very long ago.

Re: Reoccuring Elbow Pain

Ok, i've done some work on this injury, but just aggrivated it again!! I've read the other posts, and it seems like a tennis elbow.

Im getting conflicting info, on what supplements I should use to help this. I've noticed that a lot of the joint care stuff is mucho cash, so wanted to get the right things at the right dose.

Also, I've noticed it hurts more when I do close grip presses of any sort (which I now avoid), I take it this puts more stress on the joint than a wide grip?

Cheers for the help, River.

Re: Reoccuring Elbow Pain

start eatin a handful of nuts every nite and stop doin all extensions for tricep , do only close grip presses use a light weight for 4 sets of 20 .. also use dumbell kickbacks..

stay away from anything that stretches overextends your elbow... eat more red meat and take i think in this country u call it glocosamine ??

back in africa we had bone marrow soup.

god bless

Re: Reoccuring Elbow Pain

as mentioned on another thread yesterday for triceps avoid headcrushers and tricep extensions. Buy a elbow support and take glucosamine. I have been suffering from pain in my elbow similar to yours for last 7-8 months. You learn to train around it.

Excellent - what I have seen is that I have to buy new ones every 6 weeks or so as they start streching and lose the support they provide

what do you do for a living?

I say this because i work in an office and had bad rotator cuff problems felt like my shoulders where grinding to the bone. My chiropractor told me that he see's a lot of active people withis problem who work in office's he said he noticed that they all stood with their shoulders rounded and back slighty humped from sitting at a desk. He told me to start thinking about my posture more and stand correctly (with my chest out more and shoulders back and straight back) he also recomended doing light assited chin ups and dips. Month later problem was almost gone.

He put it down to week shoulder muscles can not remeber the names

Re: Reoccuring Elbow Pain

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm using an elbow support and it really does help (york, cheap and good from Argos). The glucosamine seemed to make sense, but having spent 15 mins looking at supplements in boots, I'm confused. What mg should I aim for? and do I combine it with rosehip, chondroitin, oils?

I currently take Udo's choice oil supplement every day, along with multi-vits. I do work in an office, and posture is a concern, I'll defo look into posture correction.

Re: Reoccuring Elbow Pain

i use this stuff http://www.healthspan.co.uk/joint_ca...4p1545864.html it works for me but it will take about two months before it will build up in your system and start to work effeciently i have been taking them everyday for the last 2 years, I rarely get any joint pain. To get it into your body fast take these http://www.healthspan.co.uk/joint_ca...-c124p321.html

Re: Reoccuring Elbow Pain

Thanks man, good link.

second one looks good, although i'd prefer it without the added sucralose sweetner.

I'll invest in something like that and see how I get on, I'll let you all know.
