Advice please?

Hi Guys,

What do you think of my current 5 day split??

Day 1 - Back / Biceps / Traps - 30 mins cardio
Day 2 - Chest / Triceps - 30 mins cardio
Day 3 - Legs / Calves - no cardio
Day 4 - Shoulders - 40 mins cardio
Day 5 - Rest
(repeat)

I've only just started the cardio as I used to focus solely on weights. I'm definitely getting leaner, but I'm not sure I can sustain this sort of programme over the long term as I am permanently knackered. to be honest I think I need to change things around, but I don't seem to be able to find a set up that I'm comfortable with.

Does anyone have an alternative split I could try out for a while, or some advice on how I could improve things?

Cheers

Beastie

Depends on the sets and reps, but you might be doing too much especially if you're feeling permanently exhausted.

Do the cardio at a different time to lifting IMO. And consider a lower volume split, like the one in the link in my sig.

I do a similar split but without so much cardio, having said that i cycle 3 times per week, but not so close to the gym work.

You could be pushing towards overtraining as big said and i would definately look at moving cardio away from weight workouts.

You could also add an additional days rest.

Hers my workout

Mon shoulders and traps
tue back
wed chest
thur legs
fri arms
sat rest
sun rest

I make good and continous gains at the moment

I do approximately 4 or 5 exercises with 3 or 4 sets of between 8 and 2 / 3 reps depending on bodypart being trained,

Thanks for the advice guys. I've had a look at Samurai's low volume info and I think I've definitely been over training.

I've been doing far too many exercises and far too many sets. I think the split might be a little more manageable if I drop the number of sets down a bit!

As for the cardio, I don't know whats best for this. I don't think I could cope with any more days in the gym, but I might try a bit of cycling or jogging (if the weather stays like it is!).

Many thanks

Beastie
