![]() | Traps! What day do you train your traps on? Shoulder or Back? cause ive heared that the reverse barbell shrug is actually working your back muscles! but doesnt the dumbell shoulder shrug work your shoulders? just wondering if i should do both on shoulder day or the reverse shrug on back day? |

| If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it. | Re: Traps! do them on any day you like. personally i hit traps on leg day as my grip on back days is used up. just grab some dumbbells or a barbell (not reverse grip) and shrug them... simple ![]() |

I do them on back day but am usually bushed by the time i get to them and my hands are killing from the gripping, despite wearing straps ( and yeah before you all shout, i'll shout GIIIRRRRLLLLYY ). I use the smith machine and do regular shrugs and alternate with behind back shrugs ( ala Lee Haney style-love this movement ) I also do straight leg deads this day too so my callouses are proper chewed. ![]() |

Using them you will hit the traps bang on, and all the weight will be off your forearms and be transfered to hitting the traps. Without them you will still hit them but as you try and grip the bar your grip will go before failure on the traps, and your forearms will grow and strengthen, So its really up to what route you choose, for me i try and vary it, one week with, one without. Wrist straps, bench/squat suits and all the other bollocks should be left at the door. If your grip strength is giving up on shrugs you wanna try isolating your back muscles rather than using your arms for the majority of the work. Its the mind-muscle connection. | |
