Re: would this work....

No.

It is this simple...

Additional load -> (mechanotransduction) -> satellite cell differentiation -> myofibril proliferation (hypertrophy).

In English...the use of heavier loads in training, over time, creates muscle growth.
Fatigue such as that created by drop sets does little or nothing to create growth. The use of lower loads, as forced by drop sets, does little or nothing to promote growth.

Set up your training so you expose your body to ever heavier loads over time. This will require a periodised approach of fluctuating volume and overall workload, aiming to increase the weight on the bar in the latter phases of each training cycle.

There are loads of ways to accomplish this...do a search on this forum of google for 5x5, UHT, HST, or DFHT. All of these programs will accomplish the above aims. Randomly adding drop sets or anything else of that ilk will only create fatigue, slow recovery, and reduce training frequency below optimal levels with no benefit in terms of muscle growth.

Cheers,

G

G

I think this maybe a losing battle as it seems this 'thrash the **** out of every session in the gym' mentality of more is less, shocking this that and the other is rife amongst those looking for gains.

I will make this even more simple

progressive overload
tried and trusted training plan
time

thats your approach
