I do neck bridges and I have one of them harnesses for doing lifts with my head. I used to do them every week but now i do them about once every 3 weeks just to keep things stable. That + compounds will give you a bull neck in no time - good luck finding shirts to fit you though. |

Most people don't need to do direct neck work (i.e. the bridges etc), in fact being honest most people would manage to injure themselves doing it having just watched a vid on t'internet....

| Superman | Re: Does anyone do specific neck work? Some people have thick necks some people dont look at lee priest hes massive with a pencil neck. I wouldnt worry about training the neck directly the chance of injury with those towels with weights attached is just too high, hit heavy deadlifts and you will stimulate your neck just look in the mirror at your neck on the lock out of a deadlift it expands greatly and is fully stimulated. |

purely from a body building point of view its probably not that necessary but if you where training in MMA or boxing for example a strong neck is neccessary a friend of mine had his life saved because he had a big strong neck - basically he walked off a roof, landed feet first and broke his neck - the docs and specialists said it was only because of the size of his neck that he survived and is able to walk and talk and stuff again my wife and i where involved in a car crash................she sufferes from terrible whiplash pain still.............10 years later, i never had any pain from it so i would say do some direct neck work.................some wrestlers bridges front and rear.......get a neck harness and do some work with that, do some isometric holds etc start slowly though as the neck is made up of lots of small muscles which can pull easily ./ | |
