Re: hammer strength

Yes, many times.
It is similar to a lat pulldown but really like a very high row.
Their low row machine is absolutly brilliant, between the two you get a large range of lats hit.
That low row tends to make the lower part of the trap sore.

At you pull the weight to you the handles spread out.
It is a very comfortable exercise to go very heavy on.

Re: hammer strength

Yes, I have used it, it is OK, but not as good as chins IMO, I never use it as a regular training tool.

Re: hammer strength

its a latural high row not latural pull down

i think there great they hit the lats spot on when used correctly i lean back just slightly and find i can squeeze the lats nicely at the bottom of the movement

i think this movement is helped take todays athletes to new levels of back development and as hacks says there low row with the same grip is great too, fitness 1st hasthe newer version but it isnt plate loaded.....this isnt so good

Re: hammer strength

I've used it, but as Nytol says, it's not very often incorporated into my back sessions. TBH, I seem to use it as a change if another bit of equipment is busy.

Compounds are far better IMO (unless cutting obviously).

Re: hammer strength

it is a compound movent chap, meaning more than 1 muscle used

iso make no difference to cutting either infact compound would use more calouries i should think

Cant beat bent over rows, chins (weighted) and deadlifts, cant see any extra benefit form using a machine unless your feeling lazy lol

Re: hammer strength

Compounds are obviously the best, & yes, although they burn more calories, I couldn't imagine competitors focusing on compound only movements (i.e. deads, etc) because they simply wouldn't have the energy.

Re: hammer strength

I do like the high row myself, they make an awesome low row too that kind of hits just below the traps.
Crappy for range but makes the traps kind of sore in a deeper place.
