neck training......

....it sounds lame but for a little while now ive really felt the need to work on thickening and strengthening the neck. I remember reading somewhere (might have been a statement by arthur jones ???? but don't quote me on that) .....that the calves, neck and biceps, when aiming for symmetry, should all ideally be that same circumference.

Maybe thats open to debate, but its something I want to work on. Dead lifts, snatching and heavy trap work aren't doing the trick.... so I got me a head harness. Ive used it with some light weights (around 6-8 kilos) using real slow reps with sets at 10-15 reps.

BUT.. "Is this correct?" as I feel Im just winging it with and am not sure if this is correct let alone safe (im in a seated position on bench or chair, with elbows resting on knees and bending head forwards until chin is almost touching my chest, pausing before returning to the start position with my head going no further back than looking up right)

If anyone can point me in the right direction of a neck training program (inc. range of motion, weight used, number of reps, sets, time under tension, etc) I would be really grateful.

Re: neck training......

You can use a towel wrapped around your head and pull it with your arm , then push your head in the opposite direction. Maybe safer !!?

I think deads and shrugs would help, although i know you say they are not. Maybe its a genetic thing !?

i wouldnt worry too much about it mate, the only guys i have seen train there neck directly is those who are involved in contact sports.

Re: neck training......

I know wrestlers train by doing bridges: lie on back, then lift your midsection up keeping yoru feet and head on the ground.

Viagra gives me a fcukin' headache.....
Mate, if your mrs gives you earache just tell her to mind her own fcukin business.....
What I did was do gear for 6 months then said to my mrs I was thinking of trying them. She said well, they'll make you all more aggressive, d1ck small etc etc, the usual and I replied I'd been on them 6 months to which she said, oh well then, no worries...

Re: neck training......

boxers use the head harness to help strenghten the neck. as long as you do the exerscise without too much weight it will not injure you.
