![]() | RUNNING i find running is a great way for cardio as well as swimming. when i go running i get all dressed up, say for instance today its 26degrees ill put on a black bag with a hole cut out for my arms and head. t shirts, jacket, joggers and hat. then go running at a medium pace for 30/35mins covering 6miles av. is this a good way to burn carbs and fat, i find the black bag helps me sweat more and loose alot of water retention. am i doing this right? discuss. |

If you want to burn off fat then do running or go on the cross-trainer in the gym. Off the top of my head i can't remember what the heart-rate (beats-per-minute) should be for fat burning.

Doing some suicided on a flat surface is great. Start at one goal line, sprint to the penalty spot, sprint back to the goal line, then sprint to the top of the penalty area, then back to the goal line, then to the center half line. This usualy works better on our american football field since we have lines every few yards. But we're just tossers like that. It may be easier going the width of the field rather then the length at first. This will make it easier on the footie pitch too since you have more markers this way. The point is to always be a quick sprint, then a quick stop and to keep this up with out stopping. Sprinting is going to help your heart, your lungs, and help get those legs defined.

Best cardio IMO is H.I.I.T...i have shin splints to, so i go to a field and do H.I.I.T running. Or go for 40mins around 130BPM on the cross trainer or bike as these dont set off the shin splints. Just dont bother with all the sweat suits etc, load of rubbish. |

![]() | Re: RUNNING Then 5 mins later I stumbled across the OP's pics in the pic forum... Nooo way Jose! I'm an FFB myself (former fat ba$tard) and have worked hard (and am still) on body recomping and running has been a big part of the success (no bin bag required). I'm not normally an ar$e, but I have a dislike to seeing people talking crap on the net. More than that it's a shame for them because: a) they don't get the advice best suited to their situation. b) it's a turn off and people might not want to help at all. Batesy 14st 1lb 6 miles 49 mins 50 secs (not saying that's great, but good for someone who 18 months ago was once a lardy 16st 7lb needing 1hr 12 mins) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: RUNNING Some big boys can keep this type of pace. My father used to run 6 minute miles when he was upwards of 240lbs, and this wasn't muscle. Probably from his training while he was in the 7th Special Forces group. Some people are just studs though. If you ever saw my father you wouldn't think this fat old batard can run forever and swim like he can, but he can. Dirrtysouth may be forrest gump for you we know. Body composition isn't something to judge on when it comes to running. And it can be much harder to run these distances if you have a huge amount of muscle and no fat compared to average muscle and a bit of pudge. It's going to take alot more energy(calories) to keep them muscles from fatigue.

When I was taking driving lessons, my instructor was a little overweight, but could run for miles & miles. It used to amaze me how he could. He used to say 'I'm the fittest fat bastard you'll ever know' - didn't half make me pis* myself that comment. ![]()
