Re: Body Hair question for any of the moderators???

veet will only last approx a week or even less if you have heavy hair growth.

ive heard it can take quite a few laser treatments to me premanent.

you can also get a hair minimiser cream which you apply after waxing or shaving and this cream helps to slow the re-appearance of hair. get it from avon approx £5 or from boots or any large chemist for about £6-£7

Re: Body Hair question for any of the moderators???

Hi guys,

I have my chest waxed every 4-6 weeks. The lady who does it also does my missus at the same time (not her chest!!!!) and therefore I can ask her to wax more than the average salon. She does my chest, abs, shoulder and back. I love the feeling once its all gone!!

IPL (intense pulse light) If you had asked me this a few weeks ago I would have gone huh. BUT, I have just investigated an insurance claim for a large national beauty salon (i investigate liability claims for insurance companies). I now consider myself an expert in IPL!!!!

The claim is from a lady who had IPL treatment. She had an initial consultation and was told not to sunbathe (this will have dire effects to anyone tanning for a competition!!). The way IPL works is that light is transmitted at a rate called joules through a crystal head (about 2cm squared). The rate in which the light is transmitted can be from about 25 to 40jcm. The head is pressed against the skin and the light kills the melenine in the hair follicle which kills it. the follicle drops out and cannot re-grow. A few sessions are required as there are always stubborn hairs which require high rate of joules. For this reason each session requires an increase in joules.

The reason customers are told not to sun bathe is because if the area to be treated is subjected to UV light then the melenine in the skin becomes active. When this is blasted by the IPL light it blisters and becomes very painful.

Following the consultaion, the Claimant had a test to find out her tolerence to the treatment. After two weeks she went back and had the treatment which was to remove the hairs on her arms. Right, to cut a long story short, after about 2 years of this treament (about 6 sessions) the lady turned up in August 2006 and denied that she had been in the sun. When the treatment started, the melenine in her skin reacted adversely and came up in what looked like a burn. As a result, she is suing the salon for burns. I have told the insurers to turn the claim down but I dont think we could keep the argument up for long.

I dont think it is as good as what it promises. You have been warned, stay out of the sun during the treatment!!!

Re: Body Hair question for any of the moderators???

Good point Leeston. It does take numerous sessions and you cannot get a a natural tan close to treatments. You can have a session give it a couple of weeks, go on holiday, come back and wait for the tan to fade before next session.
Also they cannot do any areas where you have tattoos
