![]() | Hello mate. Yup I have defo found benefits if I stretch before a workout. I found this stretch routine over on T-nation (stretching before workout). I've been sticking with it for about 8 weeks now and am feeling good for it. GOTO: http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle....le=body_89lazy |

If you workout after stretching the muscle, you are effectively training an are of muscle that is not used to being worked at all for your normall workouts its a bad idea, but for specific workouts it may actually be a good thing, but in these specific workouts, your aim is only to bring up the strength of the stretched part of the muscle when a muscle becomes stretched, the red bits in this explanation become elongated and weaker than the rest of the muscle --------------------- so if you stretch a muscle then train it normally you run the risk of injury IMHO this is why footballers tend to pull hamstrings frequently, as its a muscle used for power and , it seems all footballers stretch hamstring before using the muscle they run the risk of increased injury :lift: | |

![]() ![]() | I always warm up with the bar before i start any lifting. Example if im doing chest, I will get an olympic bar and do 1-2 set for 3-4 body parts 1 set of shoulder press and side raises, triceps push downs, flat bench press, flys, and 1 set of dead lifts up to 20 reps with just the bar to get blood going. All these muscle groups will be used throughout my chest work out so they are all warmed up before i start. it will be different on leg day or back day, i just think of all the muscle groups that will be worked and warm those up. AGREE WITH WHAT WAS SAID EARLIER NEVER STRETCH A COLD MUSCLE. I am lazy when it comes to stretching, most of the time i'm so f**ked by the time i finish my workout, i run out the door.
