Dead Lifts (Stiff Legged)

Just a quick question:

When performing SLDL's are the knees in the locked postion, or is there still a slight bend in the knee joint? - Cheers

Will.

Keep a very slight bend, back as straight as possible and come to just past the knees to keep the tension on the muscle.

Agreed - remember, they are called stiff legged, not straight legged.

As above, legs slightly bent, about shoulder width, back perfectly straight (if you cant keep it straight you are lifting too much). Keep the bar quite close to your legs and up then down. Touch and go is the key - let the weights touch the floor and then straight back up.

Another thing you might try, AFTER you get the form down and are progressing a bit ... Pull out a small platform to stand on, 6 inches maybe, and stand on it ... Then try out the SLDL's ... You get a super, super stretch in your hammys with this.

Don't try it until you have the form down first, though ... And use a light weight, get comfortable with it. The stretch is just amazing.
