![]() | Trap! Who has em' ans what do you do? The trapezius seems to be one of those bodyparts that some people have and some just don't. I'm lucky mine grow like weeds and in the early days they outgrew my delts and i looked narrow. (since then the muscles have become more balanced). What i want to know is what exercises you guys consider the best trap builders out there? Personally i think the following build awesome traps: 1. Partial deadlifts 2. Dumbell shrugs 3. Hang cleans 4. High pulls |

![]() | I always find that the ROM on shrugs is too narrow to produce real gains but i guess its an individual response. Dumbell shrugs for me don't neccesarily build mass but rather thicken and adds density to the muscles especially when i hold the contraction at the top for 2 seconds. Plus the grip works a bonus |

Now that I am doing deadlifts, all my bodyparts are getting stronger. I suspect this is the cause of my newfound strength gains. Some guys are saying I look thicker, again the only thing I have done diffrent is dead lifts. So, I feel deads are the way to go, you get the benefit of doing a compound exercise while you are hitting the traps. Shrugs are kindof a isolation exercise. Its the diffrence of bench and flys in my opinion.

![]() | True deads nail the traps. In fact any deadlift will but i find keeping continuous tension really helps. Even stiff legs thrash my traps and the benefits of partials are that in perfoming the top portion i figure you're working the traps harder as thats where their recruitmen is maximal Last edited by konan; 22-11-2005 at 07:28 PM. |
