routine, doesnt help lose bf?????

i know my routine wont get rid of my body fat, but this is really bugging me, my training partner has been bodybuilding for 5 years and looks really good, and he said me doing bigs "how to get big" routine is completely wrong

this is because im trying to lose body fat, ive told him that changing my routine wont do **** all, its down to my diet plus if i do the routine Big posted i can still do 3 days of cardio and with my diet sorted i shud lose weight pretty well whilst gaining decent amount of muscle, is this right or am i wrong?

this is the routine hes got me doing, i know for a fact its over training me i just think hes bigger than me and been doin it 5 years so he must know sumthing

Monday - Upper Body
Tuesday - Cardio
Wednesday - Lower Body
Thursday - Cardio
Friday - Upper Body
Saturday - Cardio
Sunday - Rest from training and eat what the **** i like

the days arent too bad i dont think the only problem i have is this is the example of upper body hes got me doing i do two exercies per body part and with the second exercise i only do one set till fail straight after the first exercise with no rest

Chest
approx 1 min rest between each set
15 reps (50kg)
12 reps (60kg)
10 reps (80kg)
8 reps (90kg)
6 reps (100kg)
2 mins rest
go to fail on the weight i done for 8 reps (90kg)
with no rest, go straight onto flys

i do this routine for each muscle on upper body all in one session, so shoulders, traps, biceps, triceps, chest, back, abs and apperntly i shud be finished within 45 mins to an hour

now i know this will be over training so i decided to split the two day split upper body into halfs so on the monday only do half of the upper body same for friday

on my cardio for tues and thurs im doing a 20 minute jog e.g.

1min walk
1min jog
1min run
1min sprint

repeated 5 times

then for saturdays cardio i just go swimming its nice to get ready and im all relaxed then for sunday

so i kno im over training on this routine, for me to lose body fat ive sorted my diet out now, but does the training make a difference? see im happy with Bigs if it doesnt make a difference plus Bigs will get more muscle on me at the same time

any feedback would be great, thanks for ya time :p

Well you've tried his way and it wasn't working for you. All you can do is try a different way and see what happens.

The way he trains obviously works for him, and that's great - but for 90%+ of people (you and me included) it would be chronic overtraining.

Losing bodyfat is about diet. Get yourself on a solid diet, do plenty of cardio, and work on a low volume weight training routine where you're adding a small amount of weight each session, and you'll be sorted.

You have to try each approach for yourself dude and see what you like. Don't take his or my word for it - try all the approaches and see which actually works for you.
