beta-hydroxy-beta-methyl butyrate

One example (there are no peer reviewed human studies only animal studiews)
'Feeding HMB increased daily gain of steers slaughtered at 105 days but decreased daily gain of steers slaughtered at 147 days and HMB tended to increase the ratio of intramuscular fat to subcutaneous fat - this means the animals gained more fat but in the muscle, so it doesn't show on the skin fold but it does show in health. Also note that the animals actually lost weight a bit later, but in the study they lost muscle not fat.

So anyway I turned to some people I know and asked what they knew about HMB just to get another opinion. The answers were quite funny. Two of these guys are big time olympic coaches and they said HMB was and always is a joke. Enough said there. The Last guy I asked this morning was a researcher for human performance (one of my relatives) his conversations started out like, of that **** that Bill P tried to scam on the public... I'll leave out the rest of that conversation. Point being, all 3 of these guys will use with their clients anything and everything that works or even hints at working, none of them like HMB. As I said, IMO its a scam.
cheers

(by the way the coughing is real, I have a weakend immune system due to treatment and I caught one hell of a nasty cold. I'm sick as I have ever been at this point, thank goodness for a laptop and xbox. LOL)
