There are several well-known places to inject where hitting nerves and blood vessels are less likely: the glutes, quads and delts.
The belief that it's best to inject in the glutes comes from the normal approach for
medic staff injecting
patients.
It's preferred mainly because the patient can't see and is usually immobile on his side or front and can't intervene!
But my diver paramedic training says that it's difficult to
self-inject safely into the glutes and much easier to inject yourself in a controlled way into the quads.
Also, because many of us have to sit a lot nowadays in our jobs, the glutes do not get as much recovery movement as the quads which tend to get flexed constantly through the feet being moved a lot even when sitting.
If you divide up your upper leg in the way recommended on here, the resulting letter-box sized area will give plenty of room to inject quite frequently and recovery will be quick.
Quad injections seem to give less sus and test ache too as they recover quickly.
