I think one thing that was not addressed above in the GH scheeme of things is sleep.
As we age all hormones decline, even melatonin.
Outside of intense exercise, GH release is highest during REM sleep.
I do notice when I take melatonin at night I dream alot more and more colorfull dreams.
Could it be that when we age sleep gets disrupted and less GH is released?
Bet so.
Just like guys that have sleep apnea can have lower levels of testosterone which spike when we awake in the morning.

I work for a huge factory, I work day shift, they have a second shift and a graveyard shift that is 11:30 at night to 6:00 in the morning.
I see many of these people leave in the morning when I come in. I can see that many do not look all that good, or healthy. Disrupting the circadian rythem of things just seems that they dont look all that healthy to me, many have big bags under their eyes.
