The idea is that this sort of constant time under tension triggers mitochondrial and capillary bed growth, which will aid in muscle hypertrophy.
It will also stimulate an entirely different set of muscle fibers, and I always get it backward and can't be bothered to google it now.
Varying the rep range is one of the best ways to break through plateaus or see if your body responds better to a different type of training (because you have a different distribution of muscle fibers). |
