I think you would benefit more from a decient training partner than a personal trainer mate.

I personally would have no problem going vegi as long as I could still eat eggs, fish etc. In fact the only meat I eat is 200g of chicken every day and to be honest I have to force that down sometimes. I used to eat a lot of meat but not feel better not eating it. It wasn't a concious decision just something that evolved.

I think going totally vegan may conflict with your training goals.
