What he is saying is when you first start out resistance training then you will gain muscle quite easily.
If the diet is on and resistance training is good, then yes.

Too much cardio is not the part of the equation here tho.
The body adapts to stimilus.
Resistance training can cause fat loss for 3 days.
First day is the exercise, bodyfat will be burned to some degree, but the next two days when the body is rebuilding it is burning calories, and mostly from fat.
Not to mention the adaptive responce from resistance training.
Resistance training is telling the body to do something, usually it is the body saying it needs to build muscle.
So, what is going on is the body is building muscle at the same time it is burining fat to accomidate that muscle.
Yes it can be done.
Especially a new guy that is new to resistance training.

Carido is fine, but I do think you can lose without it and when you stall you can add it, same with fat burners.
Try using the big compound exercises to yield the best bang for your buck.
