cheat meals/cheat days can be effective on any type of restrictive diet mostly they are used best on carb cycling or low carb diets....
when you restrict calories your body gets used to this by lowering your metabolism by having a scheduled cheat you will shock the body into spiking the metabolism this stay high until the body realises you have gone back to your restrictive diet then the process goes full circle again, whilst the metabolism is raised on the non cheat day you will burn more fat than you did the days before the cheat....
the key to all this is timing of the cheat day when i first start a pre-comp diet i have a cheat day once every 10 days then once every 7 days then near the end once every 4 days....remember a cheat day can also be a high carb day this is just as effective but not as tasty
