routine cycling

do you buy into the idea of cycling the way you train. e.g-
8weeks high volume
6weeks 5x5
8weeks hit

or do you stick tho the same way of training and throw in a few different techniques
for example some weeks do drop sets,supersets
but just on a certain day not cycled???
