| Re: Calzaghe V Hopkins :D I give Floyd all the credit in the world, he is the real deal. In the same way Sugar Ray Leonard was. Leonard waited for Hagler to get old, came out of retirement, and stole the decision. Leonard did things the "smart" way. And he achieved greatness. Floyd didn't face the best at Light Welter, he lured Hatton up to Welter after having seen him against Collazo. At Welterweight he is yet to take on Cotto as you say, and also Mosely. I'm not saying he won't beat them, but he hasn't yet. Beating DeLaHoya was impressive though(as he is naturally bigger and world-class).
Then we have fighters like Hagler, Duran, Pacqiuao, and even David Haye. These guys didn't have the glamour/pulling power on the way up to be protected (except Haye who to his credit refused it), and once they became champions they still didn't cherry-pick opponents. They looked for the other best fighters and took them out, they cleaned up their divisions. Using Pacquiao as an example, he's fought and beaten every other great fighter in or near his division.
What seperates the fighters on the second list, from those on the first, is that they are Warriors. And I'm always gonna be biased towards a warrior, when it comes to the p4p list,,because they deserve it. |
