Re: back injury/rehab/positive stories

I think PScarb will have the mother of all recovery stories...

However, one of my own. I tore ligaments in my lower back about 2 years ago when deadlifting due to a) a weak core, b) stiff hips c) poor form - I've got posts on here about it. Had various physios and chiros telling me different stories - most of which were BS to get me going back.

Finally, I found a very good physio (Dave @ Hallamshire Physio for anyone local to Sheffield), who worked me hard and was honest about what I would achive. It turns out I also have wedging of my spine at L1 and L5 - similar to spondylosis.

After a lot of hard work - mainly core strength and hip flexability - I'm squatting 120kg for 12 comfortably and deadlifting 110kg for 12. I don't intend to drop below 8 reps and use moderate weights - but this weight is enough to stimulate growth. I'm aiming to be hitting 140kg for both by the end of this year.

I was lucky in the respect I can squat again as I really enjoy it. But like I said at the start - I'm sure Paul top trumps us all with recovery and subsequent growth!
