I think the flaming comes from frustration of seeing people not knowing anything about gear and just jumping into it.

Also you have people that ask the same question that was asked 2 or 3 in the same week. Search the forum and you can find some help. If you don't find it or find something that still doesn't answer your question then go ahead and ask.

Half the time you see the same topic on the first page of the forum, and yet people still start a new thread.

Your own research tends to get better results then just asking. Do the research and then ask to tie up the loose ends.
