| Re: Back Issue I'd been having problems with my lower back for about a year or so, went to see a doctor and was told that I was tall and slim, so do a course in Pilates. I went to see a chiropractor and initially things went well, but I think it got to a stage where his twisting and cracking just didn't seem to have any effect any more.
I went back to my doctor and got a referral to a back specialist who sent me for an MRI, which showed that I had two discs which had completely worn away and a third that had herniated. He sent me for an epidural, but that only lasted a few weeks.
Finally I got to see a consultant at the hospital and he agreed to operate on the herniated disc, so I went under the knife at the end of January of last year. It's been a slow recovery but things with my spine do finally seem to be getting better (although I still can't bend the bottom three vertebrae). But I also keep getting really bad pain in my glutes; the doctor seems to think that I could be suffering from sacralitis - inflammation of the sacral joint, but to put it blunty, it really is a pain in the ****.
Oh, and I'm also waiting for a referral to see a rheumatologist about my hips.
For anyone out there who's tried everything and still nothing works, try giving Reikki a go. My wife is a Reikki healer (very handy) and whilst she wasn't able to take the pain away completely, she was able to provide some relief for a while.
