Resize it to around 400 x 400 pixels if you want to post it to here, crop of any edges that you dont need and save it as a gif (most programs have a "save for web" feature which will tell you the new size, etc)

Not gif, use jpg, it is far more compressed with higher image quality.
Just right click and go use the microsoft edit feature, it is bone easy.
