Sounds like you overstretched your chest and the inflammation is just a survival mechanism/response. If you had tore something theng you'd absolutely know about it at the moment.

It could be that you have overloaded the tendons, I did this while using MST and had to back off from training for a few weeks.

See a doctor though mate - although they'll just say rest it.;)
