| slightly OT guys but still interesting....
my father in law had cancer of the larynx and as such has just had surgery(last monday) to remove it...which leaves him with a stoma ( a hole in his neck thru which to breathe).....
now i heard the family also saying that he had his pitruatary gland removed too as a precaution...?
i'm not sure the family member got it right did they??
can a person function without this?
is it in the neck area in the first place??
i'm guessing if its true, he'll have to have a constant intake of suppliments,??
isnt this gland responsible for production of a whole host of other substances?..
the doc's are already giving him calcium and magnesium, will he need some sort of hormone therapy too?
its a bit of a touchy subject at the moment so i dont wanna ask the family or doctors ....but i would like to be a little more prepared for when he comes home....
a lot of questions guys i know,(sorry) but it was Hackskii's post bout this that got me wondering.
